There must be at least 40 cm (15.7 in) between the sofa and the coffee table. If the sofa is against a wall and its side is near a door frame there should be at least 20-30 (7.8-11.8) cm of separation between them.
If your living room is small, you need a small sofa. However, if you need more seats, an L-shaped sofa or a chaise longue is perfect for smaller spaces. A sofa with light colors and long legs of at least 5 cm (1.9 in) gives the impression that there is more space. You should also finish your set with a glass coffee table and one or two small chairs or poufs. If you have more space you can take advantage of it. If your room is rectangular, put your sofa against one of the longer walls. A square room is perfect to face two sofas.
